The nomination read as follows:

I am writing to nominate George Hirtl from Austria for the Richard Jacques Turner Award for Excellence in recognition and appreciation for his outstanding contributions and dedication to the Internationale Kommission der Detektiv-Verbände (IKD) executive team for the past 20 years as the vice secretary general.

George has played a pivotal role in the IKD team, particularly in overseeing technical matters and driving various projects conducted by the members—too many to list. His experience and expertise have been invaluable in maintaining the high standards and quality of the organisation's work.

One noteworthy aspect of George's role has been his expertise in engaging with the committee dealing with writing the IKD common minimum standards, which were finalised and launched in 2007, and George then went on to drive the standard for competency. More recently, George liaised with the IKD team dealing with the recently published ISO 37008 (internal investigations).

George’s attention to detail and in-depth knowledge of all the subject matters the IKD has embarked on over the years have enabled the IKD teams to consistently deliver top results. His ability to bring together diverse opinions and find common ground has not only strengthened the organisation but also improved its overall effectiveness.

Despite his numerous responsibilities, George has consistently demonstrated unwavering commitment and dedication to the IKD. He has always been willing to go the extra mile to ensure the success of the members’ projects and undertakings. His passion and enthusiasm are contagious, serving as a source of inspiration to his colleagues.

Most importantly, George Hirtl has contributed to the IKD by fostering an unrivalled camaraderie among its members. His friendly demeanour, approachability, and willingness to lend a helping hand have created a positive and collaborative work environment.

In recognition of George's invaluable contributions to the IKD, I highly recommend him for appreciation and acknowledgement. His extensive knowledge, professionalism, and unrivalled camaraderie truly set him apart as an exceptional member of the IKD, fitting the award’s title, "Excellence.”

Thank you for considering George Hirtl for this well-deserved recognition.
