Tony Hooper 22/11/1952 - 20/04/2020
It is with the deepest sadness we report the death today of former ABI member, Tony Hooper; taken away from us by this wretched virus.
Tony has been a fine example of honesty and reliability in the private investigation industry for the past 25 years. Having previously been an investigator with DHSS Fraud in Bristol, he expanded his love of the camera to become a professional photographer. His original business was Cholwell Photo Services; later changing to Somerset Investigations. With a host of friends in the investigation business, and patience being one of his many virtues, Tony was called on for his outstanding camera skills, becoming a highly accomplished surveillance operative; often the man-in-the-van! As an erudite, flamboyant individual, he was a favourite for team-work, as much as he could be relied on to operate alone, guaranteeing to produce the best possible results. As an ABI member, he fully supported the Wales & West Branch, but left the association a couple of years back when he dramatically reduced his work-load in favour of other pursuits.
Those pursuits ensured Tony enjoyed a full and rich life. He was a committed and loving family man. As recently as Saturday, whilst he was stoically battling the infection, he was extolling the unfailing support of his wife Lynda to his friends and colleagues. For the past five years he had been a Bath and North East Somerset councillor and for almost as long, a C of E Deanery Synod Member. He would appreciate the humour behind the tribute that he was, “perfect in many ways . . . aside from his fanaticism for Plymouth Argyle FC!”
“Stand down, Three-Five. Job done!”
