The British Standard Institution – BS 102000/2013

The first edition of the above mentioned standard was developed in response to the anticipated new licensing requirement for those providing investigative services. Although the licensing is still awaited the BSI is revising the document in order to respond to the needs of other sectors who undertake investigations, such as Human Resources, corporate governance and in-house investigations departments, etc.

This will ensure that BS 102000 remains the core code of practice for investigate services while opening up the audience beyond Private Investigation companies, thereby mitigating the risk of a proliferation of standards in this area for numerous sectors. Of course following a revision of BS 102000 there may still be a proven need for a sector specific document but the risk of such a document conflicting with BS 102000 will be reduced.

A BSI Content Developer has been assigned to manage the project and support the revision. Once again the ABI will play a supporting role in the project.
