Annual Awards 2009The Annual Awards are made by the Association each year at the Annual General Meeting. Nominations are made by each of the four branches of the Association. A vote by members is held at the AGM. Investigator of the YearThe winner of this award was Terry Spamer (www.ruadon.co.uk) for his outstanding work against organised criminals that undertake barbaric acts of cruelty against animals. Terry is a former Chief Inspector with the RSPCA and has many years experience working undercover to infiltrate the criminal fraternity in the UK and Europe. At times he has placed himslef in huge physical danger to achieve his objectives and bring these offenders to justice and to draw public attention to the existence of such fiends. Such dedication and professionalism can only be admired and applauded. Terry is certainly a worthwhile winner of the award and the Association is very pleased to have members of this calibre within ite ranks. The £250 award was sponsored by RSM Bentley Jennison and will be donated to charity. Frank Martin AwardThis award is made to a member who has continually served the Association and the profession in general to the highest standard. By receiving the award, the winner can be truly homoured in the knowledge that their peers recognise their achievements and appreciate their efforts. The winner of this award was Andy Coates (www.enforcementofficers.co.uk) for his many years service to the Association and the industry. Andy has been in the investigation and bailiff industries since 1988, and joined the ABI in 1999. He was appointed Moderator of the Association's newsgroup in 2000, a post which he still holds today. Elected Northern Branch Vice Chairman in 2001, he went on to serve as Chairman from 2002 to 2008. 2004 Andy was elected to the Association Governing Council, a post which he still holds. He has held a number of posts including IT chairman and Marketing chairman. He has played a large part in the decision making process in a fast moving time for the Association. As well as running his own business, National Enforcement, and his duties within the Association, Andy is also involved in other organisation within the investigation and bailiff industries.
