DVLA keeper informationApproved Conditional Access for Electronic AccessThe Association of British Investigators has gained Approved Conditional Access for Electronic Access to DVLA keeper records. From November 1st 2006, 14 new measures were introduced designed to protect vehicle keepers from misuse of their information, whilst allowing those who have “Reasonable Cause” to get the data they need. Guidance on what constitutes “Reasonable Cause” is available on the DVLA website at: www.direct.gov.uk/Motoring All requests must be submitted on the appropriate forms, which can be downloaded from the website: www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/ The interesting aspect of this change is that companies hoping to gain Approved Conditional Access to information (i.e. submitting requests and receiving information electronically) will have to operate within a regulated industry, or belong to an Approved Trade Association that has gained accreditation from the DVLA. The Association of British Investigators has, on behalf of its membership, been in the vanguard in gaining Approved Trade Association accreditation with the DVLA. This is yet another indication of the respect that The Association enjoys in government circles and another good reason for being a member. PurposesThe range of purposes that members may request information for are:
